National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) Feasibility Study Underway at Grissom Air Reserve Base

The Miami County Economic Development Authority (MCEDA) is working on the completion of a Feasibility Study to determine whether or not the civil airport operation at Grissom Air Reserve Base (ARB) should be included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) maintained by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). MCEDA has entered into a contract with CHA company out of Indianapolis, IN to assist in the development of the Study. CHA is very experienced in the development of this type of Study and has assisted other communities with inclusion in the NPIAS. A scope of work for the Study was coordinated prior to beginning the work with the FAA.

Should the civil airport at Grissom ARB be approved and included in the NPIAS, the community would then become eligible to apply for grant funds under the Military Airports Program (MAP) for certain improvements to the civil airport facilities. The Feasibility Study should be completed within the next six months and is being funded in part by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA).
